Why I Created The Preschool Academy

Hey there!

If you are worried about not meeting the needs of your preschooler and are feeling the pressure of this then this is the blog post for you!

I am about to let you know how I have failed at this and am so determined to do this right…..

I want to show you that you can feel confident.

Here’s me with my little family….

I have two teenagers and then one amazing blessing! Only 11 years gap…. but that is a completely different story!

I have always been passionate about early learning but when you become a parent for the first time the reality of shaping them for the rest of their lives to me was such an expectation and pressure!

Now add being a fully trained Bachelor of Education certified teacher MUM! That is a whole new ball game….

Starskills was born and my first two were the recipients of all my wonderful ideas!

When you talk about STARSKILLS we certainly did the SKILLS part!! LOL 😉

I created a StarSKILLS DVD which I sold nationally to other like minded parents. Poor kids 🙁

You want to get it RIGHT, and because you have never done it before it is a serious business!

So being a teacher my first two kids – 15 months apart got a school room at home! Everything was about making them smart. Everything was about education and getting them reading (which I did well before they went to school).

I definitely see a place for it but growing as a parent with now over 2 decades of experience I do things differently……

Meet my little Jesse! When I found out I was pregnant to say I was shocked was an understatement.

I was teaching FULL TIME and all I knew was I just want to enjoy him. So Bruce and I made the decision that I would stay home and be with him.

I knew these years are never repeated and they go by so quickly.

ONE thing though….

Once a teacher always a teacher so Jesse is not missing out on learning….

BUT I want to do it differently. I don’t want his early childhood to be spent in a classroom, with drills and skills! I want him to PLAY!!!!!

I want to be less serious and have FUN!

So…. in a long about kind of way this is why The Preschool Academy has been born!

So…. here is what I say now with all my experience as an educator but also a Mum.

+ ENJOY the journey don’t just endure it!
+ Make it fun
+ Make sure there is room for PLAY!
+ Make sure the whole child is being developed
+ BE CONSISTENT but not overbearing when it comes to SKILLS!
